Vineyards
Bien Nacido Vineyard
First planted in 1973, the famed Bien Nacido Vineyard is located in the very best spot in the Santa Maria Valley AVA. The combination of site, climate, soil, and quality farming have elevated Bien Nacido to the highest ranks among the worlds best! It is also where the winery is located.
Ibarra Young
Located in the heart of the Los Olivos District AVA, this little gem of a vineyard was originally planted in 1971. The vineyard is named for Charlotte Young, the owner of the property, and Miguel Ibarra, the vineyard worker who planted the vines by hand and tended them until he retired in 2013. It has been farmed organically since 1999.
CLV Winery
The winery, Clendenen Lindquist Vintners’ (CLV), was established at the Bien Nacido Vineyard in 1989. It is a partnership between longtime winemaking friends, Jim Clendenen (Au Bon Climat) and Bob Lindquist. A number of winemakers, including Louisa Sawyer Lindquist, make their wines here, using the best traditional equipment and barrels along with the outstanding CLV staff.
Reeve’s Vineyard
Reeve’s Vineyard is locatedon the western edge of Edna Valley. It’s a small four-acre vineyard that is
SIPS Certified Sustainable, and farmed using organic practices. It has gently
sloping hills and produces delicious cool climate Grenache, Syrah and
Chardonnay. Bob & Louisa have working with this vineyard since 2020 and
have taken over the farming themselves in 2025 with help from Erin Amoral of
Pacific Coast Farming. Wines sourced from this vineyard are the Verdad Reeve’s
Grenache Rosé, Lindquist Family Grenache, GSM (Grenache & Syrah) and
Viognier-Chardonnay (Chardonnay) blend.Martian Ranch Vineyard
Martian Vineyard is located in the Alisos Canyon AVA in Santa Barbara County. It has its own unique microclimate, typically 10 degrees cooler than the Santa Ynez Valley and 10 degrees warmer than Santa Maria, with warm days and very cold nights allowing the fruit from our vineyard to achieve incredible concentration and balance. The soil, called "moon dust" is well aerated and mainly comprised of shale-y clay loam. The vineyard is Demeter Certified Biodynamic.
Jack Knife Vineyard
Jack Knife Vineyard is in the Estrella district within thePaso Robles AVA. This vineyard site has the Cabernet Sauvignon planted at about
1,100 feet on Alluvial soils with sandy and clay loams. It’s notable for the
warm days and cool nights with a diurnal temperature shift between forty and
fifty degrees which helps ripen the grapes while preserving aromas and acidity.
This vineyard is certified organic.Whale Rock Vineyard
Whale Rock Vineyard, located in the Templeton Gap districtwithin the Paso Robles AVA. Templeton is a cool Region II, with direct ocean
influences. The soils are shaly, gravelly loam with sandstone, limestone,
siltstone and marine and whale fossils. Due to climate and nature of the soils,
the grapes have high acidity and great structure. The vineyard is certified
organic and also uses biodynamic farming practices. Two Wolves Vineyard
Two Wolves Vineyard is located in the far eastern edge ofthe Santa Ynez Valley on the border of Happy Canyon in Santa Barbara County. The vineyard has sweeping views of the San Rafael Mountains with rolling terrain
and Chamise shaly loam soils. There is a diurnal temperature variation and an
ocean influence. It is a warmer vineyard site that is ideal for Bordeaux grape
varietals. This vineyard is certified organic.
Christy & Wise VineyardChristy & Wise is on the border of the Sta. Rita Hill's AVA in Santa Barbara County. It’s a very cool vineyard site with direct ocean
influence. Its proximity to the Pacific Ocean results in fog-laden mornings
followed by mid-morning sunshine. Almost like clockwork, ocean breezes pick up
in the early afternoon, moderating daily temperatures. This maritime influence
combined with sedimentary soils with limestone - as very low yields - provide
an ideal place to grow world class Chardonnay. The vineyard is Demeter Certified Biodynamic.Duvarita Vineyard
Located within a cool site west of the Sta. Rita Hills AVA near Lompoc and the La Purisima Mission. Planted in 2000, the vineyard now totals over 28 acres with 16 acres of Pinot Noir (2A, 4, 113, 115, 667, 777 clones), 7 acres of Chardonnay (Calera, Mt. Eden, 76, 95, 548 clones), 4 acres of Syrah (Estrella, 470, 877 clones), and less than 1 acre of Viognier. The site consists of two south facing slopes with a small flat step in the middle. The elevation starts at 180 feet and tops out at 370 feet above sea level.
The vines are planted close together and low to the ground to protect them from the ocean breezes and provide heat from the soil. The sandy soils provide light reflection and are well drained.
